"Reiki" (ray-key) is Japanese for ‘universal life energy', a term used to describe a natural healing system to help with your physical ailments, or to help you emotionally. It is suitable for anyone, including animals. This tradition was founded by Dr Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and evolved as a result of his research, experience and dedication. It is a tradition that is open to any belief system and benefits include deep relaxation and the promotion of a calm peaceful sense of wellbeing. Reiki can be used in conjunction with other complementary or conventional medical treatments. During a Reiki treatment, you remain fully clothed and lie down on a massage couch, but you can also be seated, if you prefer. The Reiki Practitioner will then place his / her hands on or over the recipient on seven classic positions or chakras, there is no massage or manipulation.
.
As Reiki is an energy therapy, the energy can be send to someone in a different location in a similar way as waves from radio are sent over distances.
The practitioner and client would arrange for a mutual time for the session. The receiver would lie down and relax and might play some peaceful music, burn some incense or candles. The practitioner is able to send Reiki energy to anyone, anywhere in the world with great result.

A Reiki distant healing session would normally last between 15- 20 minutes and the feedback is usually given on the day following the session. You could also experience a deeper session lasting 30 minutes focusing on each energy layer spiritual, emotional and physical.
